"Anyone can provide DSL service, but when you have questions or problems, you get a response from ConnectSouth. Other companies can respond, they just don't." Jim Murray, PublisherSapulpa Daily Herald About the Sapulpa Daily Herald The Sapulpa Daily Herald is a U.S. daily newspaper with a circulation of 6,500. It has been published continuously since 1895, two years before the town of Sapulpa, Oklahoma was chartered in 1897. The paper's content is local and community oriented, with only a few national and international wire service stories. That's how they like it in Sapulpa - lots of local news. With its publishing capabilities, the paper also offers printing services to the business community. Business ChallengeThe Sapulpa Daily Herald was using numerous dial-up connections for different departments of the newspaper - one each for circulation, production, the newsroom, and the publisher. The connections were dependable but slow. Large files took hours to download often delaying printing and distribution of the newspaper. The paper contracted with another Internet provider to install a DSL line that would give them Internet connection from a single provider. When more than 45 days had passed after the promised installation date and no installation had occurred, the publisher was more than happy to listen to a sales pitch from ConnectSouth. Solution from ConnectSouthThe newspaper wanted an SDSL connection to handle daily downloads of several large documents, including television programming schedules for the TV guide, large weather maps, advertising copy from Internet sites and other pieces of information that are critical to the timely production of a daily newspaper. ConnectSouth installed an SDSL line on the day promised -- less than three weeks after initially contacting the publisher. By speaking with a human voice every time they call, the Sapulpa Daily Herald finds the ConnectSouth Customer Service Department to be extremely responsive. Bottom LineThe newspaper can gather more facts for less money. With the SDSL line, 16 to 17 users can be online simultaneously making the entire office more productive. Employees no longer have to wait for dial-up connections and information that once took 1.5 to two hours to download is now transferred in about seven minutes. Everybody gets to go home at a reasonable hour and the paper is printed and distributed on time every day, making the paper more credible with its readers.
